The Story of New Girl

The guys, unable to function with her hopeless moping decide to cheer her up and help her to overcome heartache. Jess and the guys begin a new found friendship and romance develops between Jess another roommate, Nick.

Damon Wayans Jr. who paid Coach, was written out of the show due to the fact that he was contractual bound to Happy Endings, a sitcom on ABC. As a Time Magazine article highlights, when he was originally cast as one of the roommates, New Girl creators as well as Wayans Jr. expected that Happy Endings  would be cancelled. However, when the show was not cancelled, he had no choice but to leave New Girl.

 

The decision of the show’s creators to allow Lamorne Morris to play Winston on the show rather than “Coach” was a wise choice.  It provided room for him to return when his contract with the ABC sitcom ended.
