Let’s face it: most wearable gadgets aren’t very fashionable. Perhaps, this is due to the fact that wearables are designed primarily for a male-centric tech market. Whatever the case may be, some companies are trying to change this reality by launching fashionable wearables designed especially for women. Intel, a global technology leader, is one of the latest tech giants to do so. The company recently announced its most lucrative product yet, called MICA.
This smart bracelet, dubbed “My Intelligent Communication Accessory”, enables consumers to access notifications, SMS texts and other key mobile features on their wrists. But unlike most other wearables, MICA is designed for women who are eager to make a fashion statement. The technology leader collaborated with fashion designers from Opening Ceremony to produce MICA. The bracelet will be sold via fashion retailers like Barneys New York.
Luxury Design for Woman
MICA was created to enhance the lives of customers by providing communication capabilities while accentuating fashion. The smart accessory currently comes in two main designs which feature a 1.6-inch sapphire touchscreen.
The first design features white water-snake skin, Russian obsidian and tiger’s eye from South Africa. The second, on the other hand, sports stylish black water-snake skin, lapis stones from Madagascar and Chinese pearls.
The device exudes confidence and luxury and boasts a sleek design when compared to other wearables that seem to be more like clunky smartphones attached to one’s wrists.
Smart Bracelet with Intelligent Capabilities
With a design as chic as MICA’s, it’s not hard to see why women with an interest in high-end fashion would want to purchase the device. The fact that it features semiprecious stones and water-snake skin alone would make it fit well within luxury retailers like Barneys New York and Opening Ceremony stores. But what exactly does the smart bracelet offer in terms of intelligent communication features?
Like most wearables before it, MICA is designed to enhance its wearer’s ability to remain connected wherever the user goes. The cuff-style bracelet comes equipped with a sapphire glass screen which displays notifications, reminders, SMS messages as well as other features.
The high-fashion smart bracelet also comes equipped with 3G capabilities and functions without the need to be paired to a smartphone. The fact that it works independently is an obvious advantage since the device will be able to function as a sleek standalone accessory. This will work well for users who want to stay connected without taking their smartphone around.
In terms of power, Intel is yet to announce how long the device runs without needing to be recharged. However, the company did mention that the bracelet can be charged via USB or wirelessly.
When will MICA be Available for Purchase?
According to Intel, customers will be able to get their hands on the smart accessory during the upcoming holiday season. An exact price has not yet been revealed but experts deduce that MICA is likely to sell within a similar price range as other luxury products designed by Opening Ceremony and high-end fashion retailers.
Intel takes a bold step with MICA, an intelligent high-end bracelet designed through collaboration with Opening Ceremony. This bracelet is studded with semiprecious stones and offers an elegant take on the wrist-worn wearable.
