AT&T Adds AWS-3 Spectrum to Support Demand for Mobile Internet



AT&T recently acquired license for a high-end AWS-3 spectrum via Auction 97 of the Federal CommunicationsCommission (FCC). As a result, AT&T now possesses addition infrastructure which will enable improved mobile Internet capacity and high-speed Internet for more Americans. The 10X10 MHz spectrum will cover a significant proportion of the American populace allowing about 96% of Americans to access the benefits that this new spectrum offers.



Benefits of AWS-3 Spectrum

In the competitive world of Internet Service Providers (ISPs), having the best infrastructure is of significant import since it lays the groundwork for world-class service which customers will love. AT&T’s success in acquiring FCC’s most recently auctioned spectrum will enable its customers to access several major improvements in mobile Internet service.


One major benefit is increased mobile capacity. This will enable customers to access high-speed Internet and meet greater bandwidth needs across multiple devices. This includes the multiple Internet-connected devices in the average American households: tablets, smartphones, laptops, smart TVs, and game consoles.





AWS-3 spectrum will also enable higher network capacity for users who access video and other types of content. With this increase in capacity, AT&T will more effectively address the needs its mobile Internet customers.


When AWS-3 Spectrum Will be Deployed?


The deployment of AWS-3 spectrum is slated to occur between 2017 and 2018. AT&T is working with its network suppliers and other leaders within the industry to ensure that its systems are fitted with the latest spectrum in addition to other improvements.



AT&T’s recent win during the FCC AWS-3 spectrum auction will result in increased mobile capacity for its customers. The deployment of the new spectrum will ensure that customers access faster, more reliable Internet services across multiple devices.
